Studio

In the western part of Prenzlauer Berg, just opposite Mauerpark, Sandra Rauch’s studio extends across two levels of a building. From the balconies of the spacious attic studio, the artist and her visitors enjoy a magnificent view over Berlin’s rooftops.

The visitor is immediately surrounded by a variety of visual stimuli – neon colours, gold and silver dominate the entire lower room. On the carpet, which itself is covered in splashes of paint, you’ll find several large-format works in their various stages of development. Silkscreens, which have previously been prepared in the adjacent photo lab, are leaning against the windowsill.

Right by the entrance of the studio, you’ll find Sandra’s shop. Small-format multiples, sample objects, books and merchandise products, such as printed bags, are spread across the table and the wall – just like a small museum gift shop.

Next, the visitor’s attention is drawn to the gable wall and the TvAcrylic, a large-format work with a built-in flatscreen – the centerpiece of the room. The atmosphere of the garish urban jungle, so characteristic of the artist’s work, is also present in her studio. Position and height of the space evoke a feeling of being right in the urban center of Berlin. From the window line in the studio or from the balcony in the upper office area one looks at a colourful mosaic of rooftops and facades – an inspiring view for both the artist and her guests.
